2. Blanking

Calculate thedeveloped size of the elliptical head based on design parameters (diameter, thickness). Cut the steel plate into a circular or oval blank using CNC cutting (plasma, flame, or laser cutting) for accuracy.

3. Forming

Use stamping (most common for standard heads): Place the blank on a die, then press it with a punch to shape it into a half-ellipsoid with a straight cylindrical section. For large or thick heads, spin forming (rotating the blank while pressing with a roller) may be used to achieve the elliptical curve.

4. Trimming & Edge Processing
